What is Ellect Stars in Gender Equality?
In 2021, Ellect embarked on a research journey to evaluate the progress of gender equality within senior leadership roles, particularly focusing on boards of directors and C-Suites of the companies in the ASX (Australian Stock Exchange) and NASDAQ. What we discovered was sobering: out of over 10,000 companies examined, fewer than 5% met the simple criteria we set of having at least one woman in the role of CEO, CFO, or Board Chair, and a minimum 25% female representation within their board and leadership teams.

Our research showed that there is still a long way to go to achieve gender equality in the workplace. With this, Ellect Stars was developed to recognize and reward companies that actively promote and practise gender equality within their leadership teams and corporate boards. It aims to highlight and celebrate organisations that are committed to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces, particularly by ensuring women’s representation in influential roles such as C-Suites and Board of Directors.
The qualifying companies are then eligible to receive a digital badge (using blockchain technology and cannot be copied by others) that they can proudly showcase their achievement on their website or social media.
Ellect Stars serves as both a benchmark and an incentive for businesses to implement gender equality practices, fostering a more equitable and progressive corporate environment. By acknowledging and rewarding companies that meet specific criteria for gender equality, Ellect Stars aims to drive positive change, encourage greater diversity, and elevate the standards of inclusivity in the business world.

How do you qualify for Ellect Stars in Gender Equality?
For Small Businesses
If the small business achieves at least 1 of the following:

- The most senior leadership team – at least 25% are women
- All employees – at least 25% are women
For Large Businesses
If a company achieves each condition below they receive a point:

- Have at least 1 woman CEO or CFO
- Have 1 woman Board Chair
- Have at least 25% women on Board of Directors
- Have at least 25% women on Senior Leadership Team
If the company achieves 3 or 4 points, then are awarded Ellect Stars in Gender Equality.

If your small business qualifies or your large business is listed and has more than 3 points, you are free to tell the world that you have achieved an Ellect Stars in Gender Equality!
If you would like a digital badge (using blockchain technology and cannot be copied by others), you can fill out the forms below. Our assessment is valid for 12 months therefore the digital badge will expire if your new assessment does not qualify you again.
